Whew! Roma will wear you out. But this is the place if you want ruins.
I booked a lovely little apartment for us, just north of the Colosseum. We took a day trip to the Vatican, another touring the Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum (there’s a lot of detours in there, always one more thing to swing by). Met up with Moira and Jim again for dinner and tartufo (remind me to tell you about tartufo sometime ... mama mia). My favorite part of Rome was the sculpture. I have fallen hard for Bernini. To walk around any one of his pieces ... a fountain in a piazza, in a church or in the Borghese Gallery ... it will send you.
